Career
Brief BSK Chiti graduated in Law from the University of Zambia, in 1977, following, which he worked in the Department of Legal Aid and the Attorney General’s Chambers as a learner Legal Practitioner.
After being admitted to the bar in 1978, BSK Chiti worked for Cave Malik and Company for two years, where he gained professional experience in the areas of Commercial Law, conveyancing, Family Law and Trusts.
From 1980 to 1987, BSK Chiti worked for the Zambia State Insurance Corporation, first as Group Legal Counsel and from 1985 as Corporation Secretary. During this time, he gained experience in corporate management, pension administration, risk management and receiverships. In 1987, he was transferred to National Import and Export Corporation (NIEC) as Company Secretary Cum Legal counsel, where he gained experience in trade and distributive management and where he remained until 1993.
From 1993 to date, BSK Chiti has been practising law in a partnership under the name and style of Chiti and Partners. He has, during this same period, developed and established several successful business projects and companies in tourism, communications, insurance and financial services, quarrying and material supplies etc.
BSK Chiti was Member of Parliament for Mpika Central Constituency, Northern Province, Zambia and was also a Member of Parliament at the Pan African Parliament (PAP) Midrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.
BSK Chiti currently holds a number of chairmanships and directorships, and has contributed significantly for more than 30 years to the development of the legal profession, the telecommunications industry and the insurance industry in Zambia.
From March 2012 todate – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Zambia to the Federal Republic of Germany and to the following countries on non-residential basis:- Republic of Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republic of Croatia, Czech Republic, Republic of Hungary, Republic of Macedonia, Republic of Slovakia , Republic of Slovenia, Republic of Poland and the Republic of Turkey.
