Renu Pall, Ambassador of India to Austria & Permanent Representative to the International Organizations in Vienna, joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1988. Her previous assignment was Joint Secretary (Indian Ocean Region) in the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi, a position she held from September 2015 till January 2017. Prior to that, from May 2011, she held the post of Joint Secretary (ASEAN Multilateral) in the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi, dealing with India’s Act East policy with the ASEAN and EAS and the Asia-Europe Meeting. Her overseas assignments have included Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of India at Berlin, Germany; Minister (Political) at Embassy of India at Washington DC, USA; Counsellor (Political) at Embassy of India at Paris, France; and Second Secretary (Political & Information) at the Embassy of India in Moscow, Russian Federation. In between her overseas assignments, she has been Director for relations with United States and Canada, Director in the Foreign Secretary’s Office and Under Secretary & Deputy Secretary for relations with US and Canada in the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi. Prior to joining IFS, she was part of the Indian Civil Accounts Service from 1985-1988, where she was Assistant Controller of Accounts in the Ministry of Finance at New Delhi. She has a Bachelors (Honours) degree in Political Science from Delhi University and was pursuing her Masters in International Relations from the School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi when she joined the Indian Civil Services in August 1985.
